A Study of Carpal Tunnel Injury Following Electrical Trauma
نویسنده
چکیده
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is sometimes diagnosed post electrical injury. Unfortunately, there is no clear causal connection between electric shock and the electro-diagnostic indications of CTS. One might thus infer that the electro-diagnostic appearance of signal slowing through the carpal tunnel is indicative of electrical injury to the median nerve as opposed to the mechanical compression as expected in CTS. This hypothesis is evaluated based on an analysis using parametric data for human tissues for ten hand-to-hand electrical

The Relationship between Nerve Conduction Studies and Electromyography Findings in Patients with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Background: Carpal tunnel syndrome is the most common neuropathy in the general population. Nerve conduction studies are among the standard methods for diagnosing carpal tunnel syndrome. Electromyography is painful and unpleasant, and if nerve conduction studies can be used to diagnose axonal injury in carpal tunnel syndrome, electromyography might be replaced. Objectives: This study aimed t...
متن کاملStonefish envenomation with acute carpal tunnel syndrome.
Stonefish envenomation is a common marine sting. Although stonefish injuries are commonly sustained during maritime activities, this local delicacy can also be considered a regional occupational hazard for chefs. The availability and consumption of stonefish in local restaurants has increased the risk of acute carpal tunnel syndrome after a stonefish injury. This case report describes acute car...

Background : Electrodiagnostic studies comprise a standard and reliable diagnostic modality for the carpal tunnel syndrome. During the present study, we evaluated the changes of electroneurographic parameters following the operation for carpal tunnel syndrome. Materials and methods : Electrodiagnostic data of 16 patients suffering from idiopathic carpal tunnel syndrome were gathered prior to th...

The clinical significance of the palmaris longus tendon and functional superficial flexor of the little finger in the pathophysiology of carpal tunnel syndrome
Abstract Background: The pathophysiology of carpal tunnel syndrome is associated with increased intracarpal canal pressure. Recently, palmaris longus has been introduced as an independent risk factor for the development of carpal tunnel syndrome. The purpose of this study was to assess the association of carpal tunnel syndrome with the presence of palmaris longus tendon and function...
